Well, we have reached the last week of Spring Semester. Not only is it the end of a semester but the beginning of a much deserved break for most of you (except for those hardy souls who are teaching during the break!) We wanted to take a moment at this time and thank each of you, our online instructors, for the incredible work you have done in your courses this semester!
We have seen great things happen this semester. In June was our Online Teaching and Learning Conference in which over 200 individuals were able to attend. We loved being able to meet so many of you face-to-face and hope to see more of you in coming years. It was great to be able to see instructors teaching and sharing with one another, sometimes in formal presentations and workshops and sometimes less formally while running around campus at break-neck speed to win the Amazing Race :) (see some photos here)
This has also been a wonderful semester for teaching groups. We have seen great activity, teaching, and learning in so many groups and we appreciate the dedication of devoted TGL's and AIM's in facilitating these interactions. These groups have been a blessing in the lives of many instructors, both new and experienced, in helping us not feel isolated and alone as an online instructor, but a member of a team and support group. We hope you have formed relationships in your groups that will last into future semesters, regardless of which group you may be in.
Finally, we wish you could see the perspective we have witnessed both first-hand and from reports of the incredible efforts our instructors are putting into their courses and touching the lives of thousands of students. We are sincere when we say that there is not a more devoted set of instructors to be found at any university in the world. You are not only talented and well qualified in your subject areas and online teaching, but you seek to follow the promptings of the Spirit in "serving the one" and helping to build the kingdom of God. One excellent example of this was shared by Tom Court a few days ago that we encourage you to read - Never for Granted
Please accept our sincere appreciation for all that you do for Online Learning at BYU-Idaho. May the Lord bless you both professionally and personally in your lives and with your families and enjoy a time of rest until we come together again in 7 weeks!
